MP 7 Opt 3

Maze Level From MP 8.

I know this is a week late, but i think that it works out pretty good -

Maze Level. Simple version

In this simple maze, the player will start in the lower left hand corner. The player will be told what is expected from him and the challenge(s) he is going to face by the Baron. The Baron will tell him exactly what monter is in the maze with him, and he will tell the player what the monster will do if said monster was to find the player, most of the time being a gruesome long and painful death.

The green line is the correct ways out of the this maze, but the player in game will not know the exact path. The maze will be dark and the player will only have a flash light at his disposal.

The player will have to play according to what monster is in the maze with him, if the monster can easily detect light than the player might want to keep his flashlight off most of the time whereas if the monster can hear foot steps well, then the player might want to walk slower than normal.

The game continues in till the Player finds the exit. If the player starts to slow or become discouraged, the Baron will talk to them, saying motivating things to keep the player going.

After a certain amount of time, the flash light will run out of batteries in less the player can find more hidden in the maze. Also, if the player plays for too long and does not find the exit or get killed, they will die from dehydration.

If the Player is to run into the monster, they are to try to hide from it by using the maze or try to distract it with various items from rocks to bones from other humans. The Player CANNOT battle the monster. If the player fails to get away from the monster, the monster will catch up and trigger a short cutscene in which the player gets killed.

Maze. MP 8 Opt 1-2

Baron Von Fancy Hattington the Third is a proper genius in genetic sciences. He has made, what he considers, great creations. Some of these "great creations" crave for human flesh and refuse to eat anything else. Failing to find some other alternative of feeding his creations, he kidnaps fully developed humans to be fed to his creations. After doing this for some time, he decided to invest in making a maze so he could watch his creations hunt and feed, instead of just feeding them knocked out humans. He made a maze instead of a big room because he feels some sorrow for the poor humans, and he secretly wants them to survive. But, to him, his creations continued existence is more importent. So either way its a win-win.
So, he made a underground maze (above). He has a surveillance room in the center (That white box in the middle) Where he watches the cat and mouse game from multiple hidden cameras. As the human prey try to find out what is going on, and how to get out, the Baron talks to them thru a speaker system.

If the person starts to give up, and accept their doom, the Baron will try to convince them to keep going, and that there is hope. While they are trotting thru the maze, he will ask them questions about their family and such, in hopes on keeping them motivated. He wants them to survive, or get eaten. If they stand in once place and do nothing, the chances for either of those happening lessens.

The player ( the person who is in the maze) has to find their way out. They start in a random spot in the maze every time, and must figure out their settings quick. After a minute, the Baron will notify the player that the creature has be released.  The player is provided a flash light with limited battery's. The player will find more batteries along the way at random spots in the maze, most of the time being at a dead ends.  They are to navigate the maze with out alerting their presence to the creature in the maze. They are allowed to turn on and off the flashlight whenever they want, but even with that, they must be stealthy.
Once the player has reached the exit, the Baron will congratulate them, and allow them to leave. But no one has ever made it out. Most of died by the beast, while some have died from getting lost and never finding their way out.
The player does not know about the hidden room with the Baron in it, but if they find it....they could exact their revenge with the Baron if they wish.

MP 7 Opts 1 and 2

Meet My character Adam

( I am not a good drawer)

Back Story

Adam was once called Charon, the ferryman of the dead. His duty was to ferry the recent dead to the underworld. All human souls must be taken away from the world, or else the world would break down into chaos. Later, his name and appearance changed, just as the times changed. For a time, he was known as the Grim Reaper. The collector of the dead. Still the same purpose, to show the recent dead the way to the underworld. In the past, he enjoyed the idea of keeping the world from chaos, and showing human souls their final destination. But recently, he grew aware that, despite his nonjudgmental duty,  more good people were dying than bad people. He developed a sympathy for the good and innocent and a hatred for the wicked.  After guiding countless innocence to their final resting place, he decided that he could not let this continue.
He plunged onto Earth as a human and is taking it upon himself so bring justice to the wicked, and to protect the innocent. Now, adapting to his new environment, he hunts down the most corrupt at heart and ends their wickedness. Because he is the collector of souls, he can keep the souls of corrupt from their end, and instead torments them as he sees fit.
As he begins his quest, he knows that the other aspects of the universe will take notice of his actions, so he must conceal himself to human culture.  If he gives himself away, the other aspects will try to stop him for he is interfering with the mortal realm directly.
In order to interact, he wears human cloths, speaks the current human language, stays his hand from using his powers (mostly) and took up his mortal name. His first name. Adam.

Adam's Traits

Positive Traits:

-Has a huge understanding of the nature of humans, he has been working with them all of this life and was once a human himself before he was warped into the ferryman of the dead.
- Very intellectual, has existed for eons.
- Has an easy time adjusting to the human world. Again, he has been around for eons, seeing the changes in humanity as time continues.
- Has a complete understanding of his powers.
- Has a remarkable sense of justice. He sees what innocence and wickedness really is.

Negative traits:

-Disobedient to the laws of the natural world. By hunting down the corrupt, he is interfering with the natural course of human existence.
- Has developed emotions. He could possibly lose his cools and do some things that he would regret later. Though he is death, he is not heartless.
- He has a complicated past. His transformation from mortal-human to the grim reaper may have traumatized him, but he isn’t showing it yet.

Visual Characteristics:

-       skinny, but muscular. This allows him to chase is targets, ease thru tight spots and allows him to be fast. His muscles allow him to climb buildings and other obstacles.
-       Dark in appearance. He is death, he does not know any other appearance other than the one that he has been attached to for years. (Black cloths, dark hair etc.)
-       Face expresses emotions. He mostly looks angry because of the injustice he sees on a daily basis. He wants to fix that. Constant determination on his face. This could be a bad thing though; he might show too many emotions.

MP 6 Opt 3

Design Inspiration and Research Development and game Concept: Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed is a game that takes place during the third crusade, and it ultimately is about assassins fighting the templars for freedom of the land. The game is set in real life citys, and has major real life figures in game. Most of the templars were actual people that did play some role in the third crusade.
The order of assassins is based on an actual group of assassins that did operate during the third crusade, and did preform public assassinations like you do in game. This group of assassins even had a real life fortress called masyaf, in which the assassins in game use as their headquarters. The ruins of this fortress still exist today.

The citys in the game are based off of old maps and documentations that survived the test of time. Some  iconic buildings are in game because they are still around today.

The character that you play is fictional and never actually existed, but several of the templars that you kill did in fact exist. For example, in game there the leader of the templars is named Robert de Sable. In game, you kill him in the year 1191. But in real life, he died in the year 1913. though this was part of the fictional world that is assassin's creed, it still incorporated real life people that existed in the same time period. In real life, Robert was in fact the Grand Master of the Knights templar.

Every assassin's creed game incorporates this real life element. From Robert de Sable, to the Borga family to George Washington. Assassin's creed draws inspiration from historical figures and time, and is heavily researched so that the game seems like it could have actually happened.

In assassins creed 2, you play as ezio auditore. This was a actual person who fell off the world at one point. There are records of his birth, and his apprenticeship under his father as a banker, but he just seems to stop existing somewhere in his mid twenties. In game, that is when he becomes an assassin.

Each assassin's creed game concern a major point in history and it shows that there is or there was this struggle on how to handle the world. The templars want control while the assassins want freedom. The two factions battle this out at the apexes of history.
The crusades, the renaissance, and the american revolution all are world changing evenets. Its during these events were the two factions clash, and there out come results in the way history plays out.

MP6 Opt 1

The reason why i choose this card is because of the angelic feel about it. Even though there is an angel in the middle of it, the rest of the card is light and heavenly.

The reason i choose this card is because it is fire, it is fury. The picture in the middle shows a angel like creature, but enraged.

The reason why i choose this card is because of its quite and peaceful landscape. Whereas the other two cards showed a portrait of the monster or creature, this one shows land scape. and a beautiful one at that.

MP 5 Opt4

Cut Scenes
Diablo 3

In the game Diablo 3, there are multiple cut scenes that further the story of the game and even give a quick recollection of recent events.

The game uses a combination of in game cut scenes that to show that a boss battle is beginning or that a major event is occurring in front of the players character.
At the beginning of a boss fight, the game would pause, the camera would move to the boss, the boss would give a brief monologue and then the camera fades, returning to its original position on the player, and the boss fight commences. This engages the player so that they know who they are fighting, and will make the player eager to defeat the boss.
When an event that is important to the story of the game, and is happening right in front of the players character, the game will do a similar cut scene.

The game has cut scenes that do not use in game graphics. The graphics in these particular cut scenes are more defined and more life like. These cut scenes show Major story progressions, and, in Diablo 3, signal the start or end of an act. Before act 1, there is a cinematic and at the end of act 1 there is one. This applies for all acts.

The game also has a shorter type of cut scene which does not use in game graphics, but instead drawings. These are used as recollections of resent events, to keep the player up to speed just in case the player is confused or lost in the story.

This is an example of a major cut scene signaling the end of an act. Note the high detail and amazing graphics.

This is an example of a cut scene that uses the games graphics. It looks extremely different than the first image.

And this is an example of a cut scene that is meant to keep the player up to date on what is going on with the story. See how it is almost like it is hand drawn.

MP 4, Option 1: Making a Pitch for New & Improved Games!

This is the pitch for my GDD 101 Dice Game

Battle Dice
Over View
This game is were two players, essentially, duel each other with dice. The players take turns rolling dice, one player being the “attacker” and the other player “defending”. The game is set so that it will be quick to play, comprehensive and appealing to all groups. The game also moves slightly away from using just six sided dice. The game is mostly based on luck, but there is some player intervention where the player can help his chances with staying alive and beating his opponent.
Why are we making this game?
Dice are often used in conjunction with other games, such as monopoly. There are few games that just involve dice, and those that do are largely unknown. This game is being made to, hopefully, end that. This game is simple to play, low in supplies cost, and is appropriate for all. The game has some strategy elements and the rules for how long the game goes on for can be changed by the players depending on their situation. This game has the potential to be known and accepted by the world like poker or black jack.
Walk Through of the Game
The Game starts with both players receiving 2 6 sided dice, and 1 12 sided die. Both players also start off health. The amount of health depends on how long the players want to play. In a standard game, both players start off with 50 health.
By a flip of a coin the two players decide who is the attacker first. The attack is to roll the 2 6 sided dice, while the defender rolls the 12 sided dice. The attack is the first to roll the dice. After the attacker rolls his dice, the defender can decide on whether or not they want to roll the 12 sided dice with a 6 sided die. The defender must make this choice before they roll, and if they choose, they can not repeat this action for 5 turns. After 5 turns, they may repeat this action.
Once the attacker and defender have rolled their dice, the following applies.
-If the defender rolls a lower value than the attacker, the defender must take off the value of the attackers roll minus the roll of the defender. For example, The attacker rolls a 10 and the defender rolls a 6. The defender loses 4 health.
- If the defender rolls the same value as the attacker, the defender loses no health.
-If the defender rolls more than the attacker, they gain half the value of their roll as health. For example, the defender rolls a 12 and the attacker rolls a 4. The defender rolls 8 more than the attacker, so then the defender gains 4 health)
After both players roll, and the defender adjusts his health, the players switch roles. The defender becomes the attacker, and the attacker becomes the defender. Same rules apply and this continues in till one player has zero health.
Similar Games
I am personally unaware of any game that is like this. Maybe there is some board game that has this sort of mechanic included in it. I am unaware of such a game existing. As far as I know, this is an original game that has never existed before.

MP4 Option 3: Realism & Abstraction?

1. a game that has realistic graphics

BattleField 3: Although it can be debated wether or not the game has the most realistic graphics in the sense of visual presentation, the game does mimic reality in multiple ways. The game allows the player to experience what it would really be like on the battlefield in a war. The soliders talking to each other ("Cover me, Im reloading!") , the glare of flashlights being shinned in your face, the momentary deafness caused by a near by explosion and even the learning curves of operating a vehicle (Day one of the games release, no one knew how to fly a jet. people would keep crashing into mountains or buildings. I'v had experiences were i would crash on the landing pad. As time went on, people learned how to fly, some becoming masters at it.) The games purpose is entertainment, but it also gives the player a taste of what war is like.
(Except for the part about respawning shortly after you die. That does not happen in real life.)

2. A game that has abstract graphics

Super Mario 64: This game was awesome. The game immersed the player in the Mario universe and all its wackiness. Jumping through portraits as a portal to a variety of world ranging from open fields, artic wonderlands, fire lands and deserts. The game does not try to mimic or simulate reality, but instead the game makes it so that the player accepts its abstractness as reality without much thought.

3.  A 2D game

Super Mario Brothers: This game is accepted as the best game ever made. The game is purely a side scroller. The player can only move his character in four directions: up, down, right and left. The game mechanics do not change much throughout the game, and the camera view of the character is always the same. The player can only see the side views of the character, the player cannot see the front or back.

4. A 3D game
Jak and Dexter: This is a personal favorite game of mine that I used to play when I was a kid. The world was all done in 3D, where the player can see all sided to any object or any character. The player would see the front, back, and sides of each character. The player could also see several environmental factors that could not be see in a 2D view. The player was able to explore what was behind that building or rock while in a 2D game the player could not.

5. a game that uses first person, third person or both

Dead Space: This game gives the player a third person view of the character and the world. In this particular game the player has a view of what is in front of the character by having a view point of a few meters behind the character. The camera can be angled so that you can see what is behind the character by looking at the characters front. Think of a camera man video walking around the character as he is performing tasks.

6. A game that originally was created for the real world and has been reinvented in “game world”

Skate: This game literally takes the real world activity of skateboarding and turns it into a video game. I really don’t know what else to say. You skateboard around, race people, participate in tournaments and eventually become a professional skateboarder. This is what happened in the real world before it became a video game.
7. A game that has a vivid, compelling and memorable storyline

Assassins Creed (series): This game series, I believe, has a very interesting story line. It suggests that two orders are battling for control on society, both with their images of what will is best for the world. One side believing that order and strict control of the masses is the only way to bring peace to the world, the other side believes that freedom and liberty is best, so that the people could choose how their futures will play out. These two forces meet each other all throughout history in the past and present.
The story of the series is compelling, interesting and, at least for me, memorable.

PS: I have no idea why the text came out the way it did.
